DAY 1

Pick up from the airport or land terminal in a taxi to the port of boats (boat dock).

We will travel by boat approximately 30 minutes along the Madre de Dios River until we reach our lodge or accommodation.

You will settle in your respective bungalow (room).

Their first activity will be monitoring the Harpy Eagle's nest to check if the young is still there being fed by the male or female.

Your second activity will be an evening walk. 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM (Search for tarantulas, snakes, insects and some nocturnal animals.)

 

DAY 2

SANDOVAL LAKE – TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE

We will leave the hostel at 5:00 AM but first we will have to take a boat to get to Puerto Sandoval and then enjoy the journey of the road that will be 3 KM long and then we will take a canoe to enter Lake Sandoval and we will be able to observe lots of fauna and flora such as: monkeys, macaws, snakes, caimans, otters, cormorants, kingfishers, turtles, sloths, parrots, herons, hoatzin, etc.  5:00 AM to 5:00 PM

DAY 3

RESCUE CENTER TARICAYA

We will go on a boat for approximately 1 hour to a very important animal rescue center here in the jungle of Madre de Dios, they are in charge of rescuing animals such as: monkeys, especially the spider monkey and among other animals. When the monkeys are released, they are monitored and we can enter one of the trails by walking for a long time to find the spider monkey and its group in the wild. We can use the canopy (Suspension bridges with a platform at the top of the tree) so we can look for birds such as: King vulture, toucans and there are possibilities of seeing eagles.)

7:00 AM to 5:00 PM

DAY 4

After breakfast time we will leave the hostel heading to Puerto Maldonado. We will take a car and travel for 1 hour and a half until we reach the Philadelphia port where a boat will be waiting for us to take us to the hostel which is located 20 minutes away along the Tambopata River.

Once you arrive, you can settle in your respective bungalow.

In the afternoon we will visit a 50-meter-high tower to observe a large number of birds such as: macaws, parrots, toucans, hawks, etc. Among animals it is possible to observe: howler monkey, sloth, etc. And also manage to observe the best sunset in Tambopata.  4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

In the evening we will do a night activity such as searching for caimans in the Tambopata River. We will have the opportunity to meet one of the water predators such as the white caimans and it is also possible to find jaguar, capybara, etc.  6:30 PM to 7:30 PM

 

 

DAY 5

We will leave the lodge very early in the direction of the macaw clay lick and we will undertake a trip of 1 hour and a half by boat, during the trip we have the possibilities of finding: caimans, jaguar, ocelot, capybaras, tapir, etc.

Once we arrive at the macaw clay lick we will settle in a strategic place to have breakfast and at the same time we will observe the activity of our macaws, parrots and parakeets. A clay lick is a special place for our birds such as macaws, parrots and parakeets where they complement their diet by consuming mineral salts, but at the same time it is a strategic hunting point for our predators such as jaguars and ocelots.

After the activity of the macaws, parrots and parakeets we will return to the lodge trying to find a feline such as jaguar or tigrillo on the riverbank.

After lunch we will take a boat to specifically look for jaguar, ocelot or puma. We will try to find them during the boat trip.

 

 

DAY 6

Before breakfast we will go again to the 50-meter tower where we can once again see the activity of the macaws, parrots, toucans and if we have the chance we can see the howler monkey, as well as see the sunrise in Tambopata.  5:00 AM to 7:00 AM

After breakfast we will enter one of the trails to observe how to learn a little more about the importance of many plants and animals in our ecosystem, giving ourselves the opportunity to find some animals such as birds.  9:00 AM to 12 AM

After lunch we will return to Puerto Maldonado, first taking a boat to sail down the river for 25 minutes and then going by car for 1 hour and a half until we reach Puerto Maldonado.

Once you arrive in Puerto Maldonado, you will stay at the “Wasai” hotel, it is a super comfortable hotel with views of the river and the second longest bridge in Peru.

After you settle into your room we will take our last excursion to search for sloths along the Madre de Dios River for approximately 1 hour.

 

 

DAY 7

After breakfast or depending on the scheduled time of your return flight, we will be sending a taxi to pick you up and transfer you to the Puerto Maldonado Padre Aldamiz International Airport. (This little information can be coordinated according to your flight schedule)

It is recommended to bring these things to embark on your trip in Tambopata:

 

  • Comfortable, light and quick-drying clothing, preferably made of cotton or natural fibers.
  • Long-sleeved clothing that covers arms and legs to protect us from insects and vegetation.
  • Comfortable, closed-toe, waterproof footwear or high boots for walking on uneven, wet terrain. (hiking clothes)
  • Raincoat, hat and sunglasses.
  • Repellent, sunscreen and swimwear.
  • Binoculars.
  • Head or hand flashlight.
  • A thermal bottle to carry water.

 

Includes:

  • Mobility/Taxi pick up from the airport and return transfer to the airport.
  • Entrance tickets to the Tambopata National Reserve.
  • Accommodation in the two lodges where we will stay for a few days and also in the “Wasai” hotel.
